Mahathir’s Support For UMNO Is Proof That Everyone Wants UMNO To Become Stronger.

MANY of us are oblivious of the fact that since 1987, the UMNO’s presidency was never contested. However, Dr Mahathir as the President of UMNO was the last UMNO leader who has to face an election.

As the last President of UMNO that was openly challenged in the party election, Dr Mahathir knows better about the struggle that everyone has to face in fighting for the top post in UMNO>

Dr. Mahathir was challenged by his own deputy, Tengku Razaleigh, the latter lost and things becomes bad to worst in no time. Tengku Razaleigh refuse to admit his defeat against Dr Mahathir has created many problems for the party. It has even resulted in the banning of the UMNO party itself in 1988.

We are not shocked when Dr. Mahathir supported the idea that 2 of the highest post in UMNO will not be held in the next UMNO General Assembly. After the result of the 13th General Election, the main mission is to strengthen UMNO and not to divide it by holding a contest for the top post.

Up till now, there is only one person that is rumoured to be ready to challenge UMNO presidency. The person is also the one who single handedly ensure that UMNO was banned in 1988. He is none other than His Excellency Tengku Razaleigh himself.

At the age of 78 years old, Tengku Razaleigh ambition of becoming an UMNO President has never left his mind, even though he was the one who left UMNO shattered and formed one of the most notorious political party in Malaysia, the Semangat 46.

However, the truth is, despite the allegation that Tengku Razaleigh will challenge Najib, it is still unconfirmed that the senior politician will do such act.

We are positive that Dr. Mahathir realized that the possibility of UMNO’s disunity will be worse than it had been in 1987 is imminent. With the rise of the opposition in the parliament, there is a distant possibility that the aftermath of the party election, the losing party will build a new alliance or switch to the existing opposition.
And this will be the end of the present government.

In 1987, the opposition was not as it is now, back then Tengku Razaleigh himself made a new party that is Semangat 46 to challenge UMNO. He will not enter any opposition because all of them are not as strong as it now.

We are sure that Dr Mahathir will make sure that the party will survive the ever changing political climate in Malaysia. He also had estimated that the opposition will take advantage of the UMNO elections to strengthen their mission in the next 14th general election.

UMNO members need to think about Dr. Mahathir suggestion and the same suggestion given by others in the party. The unity of the party must be preserved, and it is of upmost important for UMNO to build their strength from within.

We should all understand and remember, that none can defeat UMNO, but UMNO itself.
