Our country has a lot of enforcement agencies which are attached with certain sectors. Currently we have agencies to fight corruption, crimes and even sea piracy.

To show that the government is transparent, board of advisors that is represented by professionals and ordinary people are created by the government to monitor these agencies.

One of it is the Anti-Corruption Commission and now the police are reviewing the creation of the IPCMC.

We are not interested in the pros and cons of the establishment of these board of advisor, it is just that if any commission needs to be enacted by the government, all government agencies needs to have their own commissions.

It seems that we have forgotten one of the most influential and important of all the agencies in the government, the untouchable Attorney General Chambers.

Malaysian would have never noticed that only the AGC that is led by their Mafia Don like leader Tan Sri Ghani Patail is the only one who can make important decision to accuse anyone who is a suspect of a crime by any of the agencies in Malaysia.

Easily put, the Godfather Ghani Patail held the ultimate power to charge someone in the court of law.

Without we knowing, this process actually brings many more problems to the credibility of the government in enforcing the law. Too many times we have heard that an accused was let free because the AGC are not doing their job properly.

Even if there are cases that are presented to the court, not all of the cases are won by the prosecution team and finally, the accused were released and in many cases committed the offence again. This strike fears in the hearts of our fellow Malaysians.

All of this in unjust! In this modern age, no one should wield such great powers without any supervision. The life and death of a human being is in the Godfather Ghani Patail’s hands.

There must be a way to ensure that no abuse of power by the Attorney General Chambers.

Even judges in our legal system have its own check & balance procedure. The judgement of a lower court can be reviewed and reversed by a higher court, in which a more learned and senior judge will take a second or third look at the case.

This does not happen in the Attorney General Chambers. No other body or agency can monitor the transparency of the prosecution process to bring the case to the court. The question now, why do we give so much power in the hands of one man?

Yes, the AGC are not the same as the Police in terms of the way that they work to enforce the law.

However, a mistake made by the AGC can result in implicating an honest person in crimes he did not commit. How will it be then? Yes, he can sue the AGC or even the government of Malaysia for that matter. But the question still stands, can we permit a person to suffer economical and emotional losses just because the AGC wants to prosecute that particular person.

The government should see all these things and take action while they can. The AGC should not be left untouched.  The reign of the almighty Godfather must end now!
