Opposition Chief, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, tries to create a situation where it seems that amongst the BN parliament member there are a few that would jump ship to Pakatan Rakyat.
Everything started with the appointment ceremony where the opposition named former Federal Court Judge, Datuk Abdul Kadir Sulaiman as the opposition candidate, while BN named Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia as theirs.
According to the rule of the lower house if there are two nominations for the post of Speaker, then an election must be held. The vote will be made in secret, and the winner will be announced as the new speaker of the Dewan Rakyat (Lower House). Nomination and election of house speaker was done since the independence of Malaya.
The opposition started then started to question the serial number that was printed on the ballot paper saying that it is used to recognize which parliamentary member vote for who.
They created a perception that some of the BN parliamentary seat holders will vote for the Pakatan Rakyat candidate other than BN. They say that some of the party members were afraid that action will be taken by their respective party.
However, if there is no serial number, then they will question the authenticity of the ballot paper whether it is genuine or not. This is all a drama made by the Pakatan Rakyat that the Dewan Rakyat has to face. The opposition cannot accept defeat and acted like a sore loser to disrupt the whole proceedings.
Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia won the Speaker's seat with 133 votes, and Datuk Kadir with 89 votes, with the number of seats equal to that of the winning seat of BN and PR.
It shows that there are no cracks in the BN shell, and the PR still with their sore loser attitude.
Anwar must be so angry with the results!
He only needs one vote from the BN parliamentary members to vote for Datuk Kadir. With that one vote he will then travel the nation and say that BN is falling apart.
It seems that Anwar loses again. Maybe he should try harder next time.
